Central publishing platforms for a national bureau

Bringing critical publishing systems in-house while improving security, delivery, and shared product foundations.

The situation

A major national bureau was bringing central publishing platforms in-house. Authenticated services, complex permissions, internal integrations, and strict security and legal requirements all had to move together without interrupting ongoing delivery.

The work

Designed and developed authenticated services with stakeholders.
Handled security testing findings, internal API integrations, system logging, and legally constrained cookie management.
Spearheaded an organisation-wide design system and maintained Docker-based CI/CD.
Contributed to an AWS and Azure migration proof of concept, documented architecture, and onboarded a growing development team.

What changed

Critical platform knowledge and delivery moved in-house.
Teams gained shared interface foundations, clearer technical documentation, and more dependable delivery pipelines.
Security, legal requirements, and day-to-day product development became part of one engineering practice.

University of Eastern Finland

Digital services for the StopDia research project

A public risk application and a connected data workflow for a nationwide type 2 diabetes prevention study.

The situation

A wide intervention study needed public and clinical tools for identifying diabetes risk, collecting patient and survey data, and supporting nurses and participants. The systems had to work inside a university network and launch on a strict research timetable.

The work

Developed the public diabetes risk score application with Vue.js and MySQL.
Planned and built the Drupal workflow used to gather patient data during nurse appointments.
Integrated LimeSurvey into the study data hub and configured the Debian server with Ansible alongside university IT.
Maintained the live systems, supported users, and helped turn gathered data into meaningful reports.

What changed

The initial technical delivery was completed in under 400 hours.
Public risk assessment, clinical data capture, surveys, and reporting formed one working research service.
The services continued in live use and supported a nationwide prevention project.

2017 · Frontend-focused full-stack developer

In-housing global sportswear sales platforms

Investigating and improving legacy commerce systems as they moved into the client’s own agile product organisation.

The situation

One of the world’s largest sportswear manufacturers was taking legacy sales platforms in-house. The product team needed to understand unfamiliar systems while continuing to fix production issues and deliver improvements.

The work

Worked as part of the client-facing agile team in the Netherlands.
Fixed bugs, changed existing behaviour, and developed new features across the frontend and backend.
Wrote documentation and contributed to frontend design, brainstorming, and team decisions.

What changed

The in-house team gained working knowledge of the inherited platforms.
Production fixes, incremental features, and documentation moved forward in parallel.
Technical investigation stayed connected to actual product delivery.

2014–2016 · Technical consultant

Contract through Valve

A portfolio of multilingual sites and digital tools

Full-stack consulting across Drupal sites, a custom service, search, integrations, migrations, and server automation.

The situation

Multiple client websites and tools needed continuous maintenance and development across the server, backend, and frontend. The portfolio included difficult multilingual behaviour, custom search, data imports, and a separate CodeIgniter service.

The work

Developed requested features across Drupal, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Built a REST API for automated event imports and solved multilingual search with Apache Solr.
Handled site migration, server work, Ansible automation, and direct specification work with client personnel and API users.

What changed

Complex multilingual and integration problems were resolved in live client services.
Manual event handling became an automated API workflow.
The portfolio kept evolving across both legacy and custom technology.
